New Bathrooms for Arri Primary
Provide sanitary facilities for students and teachers
The current bathrooms in Arri Primary School are not providing a hygiene standard that supports the students’ and teachers’ health. They are a source of infection and need to be replaced in order to build a safe place for learning.
Karimu is working with the community and government to construct adequate and quality bathrooms for 16 teachers and 743 students (395 boys and 348 girls). This will not only improve the sanitary situation and thus improve health, but it will also create the best learning environment and with this increase performance.
These are the layouts for the new bathrooms for girls, boys and teachers as well as an overview of the complete project area including the sanitary sewage treatment system with a septic tank, anaerobic filters and soakaway pits.
The project was approved in March 2025 and kicked-off shortly thereafter. A large crowd of community members showed up for the first activities onsite and eagerly worked on the trenches for the foundations.
In the next step the foundation was created and building of the walls started.
